The matching of the maintenance cost and the reliability of each equipment is one of the most important factor on railway management. So we develop the new management method that based on reliability evaluation theory.
In order to improve the reliability and reduce the total life cycle cost (development cost, design cost and maintenance cost and so), we renew the conventional maintenance method with the maintenance database.
The point of the new method is the maintenance database. We make an evaluation index for each equipment that reflects not only records of repair but also the influence of down time that occurred by machine trouble. (Fig. 2-2)
Conventionally, we manage "the design and product data" and "the inspection record" separately. But with new method, we can unify both data in same database, so we can improve the reliability and life cycle cost of rolling stocks.
